Southwestern Men Highlight Four Schools Ranked in Golf World/Nike Men's Golf Preseason Poll

NORMAN, Okla. - Four schools from the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference were ranked or received votes in the 2013-14 Golf World/Nike Golf Men's Golf Preseason Poll. Southwestern, Schreiner, Trinity, and Texas Lutheran all found their names on the early season poll as they prepare to open their fall season in the coming month.

The Pirates of Southwestern enter the season ranked No. 14 in the preseason polls. The Pirates finished second at the SCAC Conference Championships and earned an At-Large bid the NCAA Championships where they finished14th overall at the event. They return Cameron Button for his senior year as he finished fifth overall at the NCAA Championships. Southwestern returns four of their top five players from a year ago. 

The Schreiner Mountaineers come into the SCAC in 2013-14 and enter the year ranked No. 24. The Mountaineers claimed their first American Southwest Conference Championship a year ago and will look to make a splash in the SCAC right away. The Mountaineers finished 15th at the NCAA Championships. They return the ASC individual champion Cheyne Kendall as he enters his junior year. Schreiner returns their top five from a year ago and does not have a senior on their roster.

The defending SCAC Champions, the Trinity Tigers, check in with seven receiving votes. The Texas Lutheran Bulldogs move from the ASC to the SCAC in 2013-14 and are receiving six votes.

Transylvania took the top spot in the polls despite only receiving three first place votes. Oglethorpe received the most first place votes but check in at No. 2 while Methodist checks in at No. 3. To see the complete poll, click here.
