contests this weekend after picking up a 65-58 win at Southwestern
on Saturday afternoon. The Gents opened the weekend falling 82-61
at Trinity on Friday night. Jonathan Blount led the Maroon and

conference road games, dropping a 71-58 decision at Schreiner on
Friday night before bouncing back the following day for a 97-85
victory at Texas Lutheran. Sophomore guard Justin Berardino tied
his career high with 19 points, but the Tigers could not overcome
Chris Lesnansky’s foul trouble and the Mountaineer’s
torrid three-point shooting. CC’s second-leading scorer, who
came into the night averaging 18.6 points per game, was called for
three fouls in the first half and played only 22 minutes. The
Tigers trailed 50-48 after freshman forward Mitch Carter knocked
down a short jumper for two of his 13 points with 5:44 to play.
However, that was as close as his team would get. Sophomore forward
James Lonergan scored 10 of his season-high 17 points during a
pivotal 14-2 surge late in the second half to lift Colorado College
at TLU. Lonergan’s jumper with 6:24 remaining tied the game
at 79-79, then Carter put the Tigers ahead for good on layup 27
seconds later. Lonergan added the final four points during the run
to give CC a 10-point lead with 3:08 to play and the Bulldogs would
get no closer than 89-82 with 2:26 left. Ryan Milne led the Tigers
with 28 points and 12 assists to record the second double-double of
his career. The senior guard also tied his career high with six
steals. Carter made six of eight shots from the floor and six of
seven free throws to record a season-high 18 points. He also led
the team with eight rebounds. Berardino connected on four of seven
shots from behind the arc en route to a 15-point performance.

night the Pirates took control of the game in the second half and
won the sprint to the end, defeating Austin College 60-58.

weekend in the first half of conference play, facing Colorado
College on Friday and Dallas on Sunday.
Texas Lutheran was hurt by a game-closing
21-3 run against Dallas on Friday. After holding an eight-point
lead with less than eight minutes to go, the Bulldogs would not
make another field goal, eventually falling 67-57 inside Memorial
Gymnasium. Troy Griffith led the team with 14 points in that game.
The next day, the Bulldogs went toe-to-toe with No. 25 Colorado
College, even leading as late as eight minutes left in the game.
Another late run was the difference as the Tigers were able to pull
away late to take the 97-85 win. A big reason for the
Bulldogs’ success was the play of freshman Jordan Kouremetis,
who scored a career-high 28 points. Twenty-two of those points came
in the second half. THe Bulldogs as a team shot a season-high 55
percent from the field.
Trinity scored a pair of home wins in SCAC

just once in three tries against Colorado. Trinity did earn a
season split with Colorado by winning in overtime in the SCAC
Championship.
