Trinity's Jorgens and White Named SCAC Women's Soccer Players-of-the-Week

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Trinity junior midfielder Emily Jorgens and senior defender Jennifer White have been named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Players-of-the-Week for Week One of the SCAC Soccer season.

 

 

 

 

 

SCAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Games of August 30 – September 2

EMILY JORGENS OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior midfielder from Austin, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Friday, August 29 through Monday, September 1.

 
Jorgens led Trinity to wins over Luther and Puget Sound to open the 2013 season, scoring a total of eight points for the Tigers.

Jorgens recorded her second career hat trick in Friday's season opener, knocking in three goals to go with two assists – including the eventual game winner for the Tigers.


Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:

Junior forward Nicole Johnson of Dallas scored a goal and had two assists in a pair of losses. Junior midfielder Hayley Warriner of Southwestern took three shots, two on goal in this weekend's games in Washington. Senior midfielder Courtney Farmer of Texas Lutheran tallied three shots, all on goal, in the first two games of the season. Austin College, Centenary, and Schreiner did not nominate anyone for Offensive Player-of-the-Week.

 
 

SCAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Games of August 30 – September 2

JENNIFER WHITE OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior defender from Albuquerque, N.M., has been selected the SCAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Friday, August 29 through Monday, September 1.

 
White led the Tigers to a pair of wins to open the season and also contributed a goal and an assist offensively over the weekend.

White and the Trinity defense gave up just four shots in the win over Luther on Friday, than held Puget Sound to one goal on 14 shot attempts on Sunday afternoon


Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman Erica Cooker of Centenary recorded 11 saves in her Ladies debut. Freshman goalkeeper Mariah Escajeda of Southwestern played all 180 minutes and recorded 16 saves in two games for a save percentage of .762. Freshman defender Tara Armstrong of Texas Lutheran played in all 90 minutes in the season opener against Mary Harden-Baylor as well as time against Concordia, took one shot. Austin College, Dallas and Schreiner did not nominate anyone for Defensive Player-of-the-Week.
