Austin College was idle on the weekend. They will take on Elmhurst and Hendrix at home on December 18th and 19th before traveling to Memphis for the Rhodes College Tournament.

Jonathan Blount surpassed the 1,000 career point plateau as the Centenary men’s basketball team improved to 4-1 on the season following a 93-73 victory over Open Bible College on Saturday evening. Blount, who exceeded the career benchmark early in the second half on a three-pointer, finished the night with 18 points. The Shreveport, La., native now has 1,004 points in his career and is the 31st Gent to reach the feat. The 93 points is the most since Jan. 16, 2012 when the Gents scored 95 in a win over East Texas Baptist in the Gold Dome. Newcomers Kendall Demouchet and James Sapp tallied double-doubles. Demouchet paced the Maroon and White with 19 points as Sapp tallied 16 points to lead a bench that scored 42 points on the night. The duo each grabbed 12 rebounds to tie for the top spot on the team. Centenary, which scored 26 points off turnovers, took advantage of the inside the entire contest recording 48 points in the paint. The Gents shot 49.2-percent from the field in the contest - marking the third outing of 49 percent or higher from the floor and the fourth over 40 percent this season. Centenary also connected on 27 of 36 (75 percent) shots from the charity stripe the fourth time on the campaign they have shot 75 percent or higher. Centenary returns to action on Tuesday, Dec. 17 as the Gents travel to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Tip is slated for 7 p.m

Despite a game-high 27 points from senior guard Ryan Milne, No. 25 Colorado College suffered its first loss of the season at the University of Northern Colorado on Tuesday night. The Division I Bears shot 59-percent from the floor and used a 46-22 advantage on the glass to defeat the Tigers, 96-57. Milne became the second player in program history to eclipse the 1,200-point plateau and finished the game with 1,216. After he scored on a driving layup to pull CC to within 11-9 just 5:22 into the game, Northern Colorado outscored CC, 43-20, the rest of the first half to take a 25-point lead into intermission. Junior forward Chris Lesnansky added 15 points for the Tigers and climbed four spots on the program’s all-time scoring list and currently ranks No. 27 with 795 points. Sophomore guard Justin Berardino added five points and grabbed a team-high four rebounds. Colorado College is idle until Dec. 28 when it visits Lehman College in New York City. The Tigers will also play at Babson College on Dec. 30 during its two-game trip to the East Coast.

The Dallas men’s basketball team went 1-0 on the week. On Wednesday, in Keene, Texas, the Crusaders won 86-66 over Southwestern Adventist University. In a game of runs, head coach Jarred Samples’ squad boasted a game-high 27-point lead with 2:43 remaining in the contest, before capturing a 20-point victory. Dallas faces MacMurray College on Sunday, Dec. 29, at 3 p.m. in Jacksonville, Ill.

Chase Kocher led all scorers with 21 points on 4-6 shooting from the field and 12-15 from the free throw line. Southwestern falls to 3-4 on the year after the loss and have one more game in Washington, facing Whitworth on Monday evening.

Jordan Kouremetis scored a career-high 18 points and Robert Watson Jr. chipped in with a double-double on Tuesday night in an 81-66 home win for the Texas Lutheran men’s basketball team over Open Bible College. The Bulldogs, behind Kouremetis’s career night, battled back from an early 10-point deficit and outscored the Bruins 69-44 the rest of the way, stretching their winning streak to four games and improving their record to 5-2 on the year. The four-game winning streak is the Bulldogs’ longest since winning four in a row during the 2011-12 campaign.
