KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Trinity University Head Men's Soccer Coach Paul McGinlay has been named the West Region Coach of the Year by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Coach McGinlay led Trinity to its 12th consecutive appearance in the NCAA Playoffs this season, as well as the 17th postseason tournament in the last 18 years.  He secured the team's 16th overall Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship by winning the conference tournament for the second straight season, earning the league's automatic bid to the playoffs.

The Tigers reached the NCAA Quarterfinals for the eighth time in team history, though it marked Trinity's first appearance in that round since the 2008 season.  Coach McGinlay has also led the team to the NCAA Semifinals on three occasions (2002, 2003, 2007), winning the NCAA Division III Championship in 2003, and finishing as the runner-up in 2007.  The 2003 Tiger men's soccer team was inducted into the Trinity Athletics Hall of Fame in October, 2013.

Coach McGinlay finished up his 23rd season with Trinity in 2013, having amassed an overall record of 390-66-30 during his career.  He entered this season as the winningest active coach (in winning percentage) in all divisions of the NCAA.  He is also fifth all-time in winning percentage among NCAA soccer coaches.
