YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. - Texas Lutheran's Ashley
Meadows and Trinity's Rosemary Steup have been elected to the
Capital One Academic All-District 8 Women’s Track &
Field/Cross Country Team.
Voting is conducted by members of College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Meadows and Steup is now eligible for the national Capital One Academic All-America Team, which will be announced June 24.
A May graduate of TLU, Meadows took a 4.0 grade
point average into the nomination period. Meadows majored in
molecular biology and chemistry.
Meadows collected five conference rings in her Bulldog
career. She was on the 2012 American Southwest Conference Women's
Cross Country Championship squad and on the 2011, 2012 and 2013 ASC
Women's Track and Field Championship teams. Meadows also earned a
ring with the Bulldogs' 2014 Southern Collegiate Athletic
Conference Women's Track and Field Championship squad.
Meadows has participated in TLU service days "Day of the
Dogs" and "HOT Dawgs" and has been a member of Fellowship of
Christian Athletes, Pi Rho Chemistry Club and the Biology Honors
Society. She was a three-time Academic All-Conference honoree and a
two-time ASC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete award recipient.
Steup earned a Bachelor of Science degree in computer
science from Trinity on May 17. She graduated summa cum laude with
a 3.91 grade point average.
The versatile Steup competed for four straight years in the NCAA Division III Women’s Cross Country Championships. Steup was only one of two Trinity competitors to attain that feat. In addition, Steup was an All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference performer for four consecutive years, finishing as runner-up individually in 2010.
This season, Steup earned All-SCAC track & field honors in the 5,000-meter and 10,000-meter run. She captured the conference 10K championship in 2013.
