IRVING, Texas - Amy Byfield has resigned as University of Dallas volleyball head coach to pursue other career opportunities.

The Shawnee Mission, Kan., native leaves with a .512 winning-percentage, after her first season as head coach for Dallas.

Byfield, in 2013, led the Crusaders to a 21-20 record that included a 4-10 mark in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC).

Following regular-season wins over SCAC foes Centenary College of Louisiana (two times), Austin College and Texas Lutheran University, Byfield's squad entered the SCAC championship tournament as the conference's seventh seed.

The navy and white ended the tournament and their season with a sweep of Centenary in the consolation bracket for seventh-place overall.

Under Byfield's direction, junior middle blocker/right-side setter Emily Caples (Walnut Creek, Calif.) was balloted to the 2013 All-SCAC Volleyball Second Team. She was also selected to the 2013 United States Collegiate Atheltic Association (USCAA) Honorable Mention All-American Team.

Sophomore middle blocker/righ-side hitter Cat Dowgwillo (St. Louis, Mo.) was named to the 2013 USCAA Volleyball National All-Academic Team.

Dallas will search for its 15th head coach in program history.
