Trinity's Ribeiro, Araujo Tabbed NSCAA All-Americans

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Senior Yuri Ribeiro and junior Victor Araujo of Trinity University were named Second Team All-Americans by the National Soccer Coaches Association of American (NSCAA) on Friday morning.

Ribeiro, a senior out of Salvador, Brazil, was named to the NSCAA All-West Region a week ago and is the only player on the current team who has earned the honor three times. He was also named SCAC Offensive Player of the Year and has contributed greatly to Trinity’s success in 2013. The two-time All-American has scored nine goals (one game-winner) and dished out 14 assists during the regular season. He added a goal and four assists during the Tigers playoff run that went all the want to the Quarterfinals. He finished in sixth place in Trinity’s record books in the single-season assists category.

Araujo, a junior out of Salvador, Brazil, also was named to the NSCAA All-Region First Team and earns his first All-American honor. He was responsible for 11 goals, with a team-leading five game-winners. Araujo also shelled out eight assists, second-best on the squad and was a First Team All-SCAC selections. He earlier was named the SCAC Tournament Offensive MVP. He was the only non-senior to be named to First Team All-Region.

The two offensive juggarnauts were part of a team that led the nation in goals-against average (.390), and were second in scoring offense (3.72 goals per game). Trinity completed the year ranked fourth by D3soccer.com, and sixth by the NSCAA.
