SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Trinity University Tigers rising senior Christian Muscarello (Tucson, AZ/Catalina Foothills) has been honored by the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL).

Muscarello, a shortstop with the Ocean State Waves (South Kingstown, R.I.), was elected to the All-NECBL Second Team. He batted .378 in the month of June, helping lead Ocean State to the playoffs.

During the summer season, Muscarello hit .316, scored 24 runs, and cracked 17 RBI and nine doubles. He was a starter for the East in the 20th NECBL All-Star Game in July at Laconia, N.H. The East edged the West 2-1 in the all-star tilt.

Muscarello led the Tigers in runs scored last season, with 52. He batted .377 (69-183), and accounted for 35 RBI, three home runs, and 11 doubles. He was elected to the All-Region Teams of D3baseball.com and the American Baseball Coaches Association, along with the All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Team.

The Tigers, with Head Coach Tim Scannell, completed the season with a 40-9 record, which established a school mark for victories in a season. Coach Scannell was elected SCAC Co-Coach of the Year. It was the fourth straight time he attained the conference's highest honor, and a SCAC-best eighth overall.

Trinity won a seventh SCAC Championship with Coach Scannell's leadership. The Tigers advanced to the NCAA Division III playoffs for the fourth straight year, and came within one game of a trip to the DIII College World Series - losing to eventual champion, Linfield College. It marked the fifth time the Tigers competed in the Regional final.
