SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Former Trinity University Tigers men's basketball standout Casey Hill has been appointed the head coach of the NBA Development League Santa Cruz (Calif.) Warriors. Hill, a 2007 Trinity graduate, became the second coach in the Santa Cruz history. He replaced Nate Bjorkgren, who led the Warriors to a 32-18 record and a berth in the NBA D-league Finals last season.

For the past two seasons, Hill was an assistant coach with the Santa Cruz Warriors/Dakota Wizards, where the team posted a 61-39 regular-season record. He coached five Golden State Warriors during their assignments, while developing five players who went on to earn call-ups to the NBA.

Last season, the squad broke NBA D-League records in total rebounds, defensive rebounds, and lowest opponent field goal percentage.

Hill helped guide the NBA D-League Select Team to a 4-1 record as an assistant coach at the 2013 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.

During Hill's time as a Trinity player, from 2003-04 to 2006-07, the Tigers advanced three times to the NCAA Division III Playoffs. The 2004-05 squad fought its way to the NCAA Elite Eight. Trinity also captured two Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships in the four-year period.

The youngest of three brothers – all who played for Trinity -  Hill comes from a basketball family. Casey worked for his father, longtime NBA coach Bob Hill, with the Tokyo Apache, a professional team in Japan.

Older brother, Chris Hill is a 2002 Trinity grad, who coaches the Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas boys basketball team. Oldest brother Cameron Hill, who graduated in 1999, is in his second season as the Trinity women's head basketball coach. During his first season at the helm, the Tiger women registered a 23-5 mark, won its first SCAC title since 2005, and qualified for the NCAA Division III Tournament.
