CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - Six SCAC women golfer's have been selected as Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Division III All-American Scholars. Trinity's Alessa Hutter, Brigette Lee, and Hanna Niner, Schreiner's Courtlynd Miller and Kaycee Bankert, and Texas Lutheran's Autumn Durst all earned the honor.
The stringent criteria requires a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50, based on a 4.0 scale.
Hutter, who completed her junior year, is an English major at Trinity. Lee, a sophomore last season, majors in biochemistry and molecular biology. Niner, who finished her first campaign as a Tiger, is undeclared.
It marked the second straight time Hutter and Lee garnered the prestigious WGCA All-American Scholar honors. Lee was also elected to the 2014 Capital One Academic Division III All-District 8 At-Large Team. Lee was named the SCAC Women's Golf Player of the Year, and the SCAC Women's Golf Freshman of the Year in 2013.
Niner was recently named to the WGCA Region 5 All-West Team. She previously became the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Golf Freshman of the Year, as the best individual finisher among first-year players at the SCAC Championships held in April at nearby Boerne, Texas. Niner finished in a tie for fourth place.
Miller currently carries a 3.59 GPA as a Pre-Med major at Schreiner. This spring, she has been recognized on the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll and was named a SCAC Character & Community honoree. On the course, she competed in five of Schreiner's eight tournaments, playing to a stroke average of 87.10.
Bankert made a big impact in her first year, currently carrying a 3.57 GPA in Biology and earning a spot on the SCAC Academic Honor Roll. After a challenging start to her college career, she made huge strides and ended the year with a 85.78 scoring average and earned second team All-SCAC in April.
Durst was named to the 2014 SCAC Acdemic Honor Roll after a fantastic season. Durst led the Bulldogs on the course all season long and finished 16th at the SCAC Championship.
