LEXINGTON, Ky. - Colorado College senior Emily Perkins closed out her career in an appropriate manner by being named a first-team All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association for the second year in a row.

Junior right-side hitter Meredith Ballard and junior setter Amy Schornack received honorable mention All-America accolades again this season.

Perkins is only the second player in the 32-year history of CC volleyball to earn first-team honors two or more times. Cathy Costello was a first-team selection in 1987, ’88 and ’89 after being named to the second team in 1986.

Elissa Breitbard (1987), Amy Smith (1987) and Sara Boyles (2001) are the only other Tigers who earned first-team recognition.

Excluding honorable mentions, Colorado College now boasts a total of 12 AVCA All-Americans.

Perkins, a senior middle blocker, also was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year after leading the Tigers to a 15-1 record in SCAC play and a share of their first regular-season title. She paced CC’s attackers with a .274 hitting percentage, as well as an average of 3.01 kills per set, and was second in digs per set at 3.34.

Perkins finished her career as the Tigers’ all-time leader with 1,665 kills and 307 block assists. She also ranks second with 422 total blocks, third with 1,595 digs, fourth with 142 aces, fifth with a .285 hitting percentage and sixth with 115 block solos.

Schornack, a first-team all-SCAC selection, broke the program’s single-season record for assists with 1,259 and is second with 2,999 career assists. She set personal single-season highs with 168 kills and a .290 hitting percentage.

Ballard, who was named to the all-conference second team, was second among the Tigers’ attackers with a .266 hitting percentage and averaged 2.54 kills per set. She recorded a single-season high with 310 kills.

Colorado College finished the regular season 30-7 and claimed its first SCAC Tournament championship.
