SALEM, Va. - DePauw University senior wide receiver Alex Koors and Millsaps College senior linebacker Will Hawkins were named to the 2010 D3football.com All-America team. The two seniors were the only two from the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference named to the team.
Both Hawkins and Koors were named D3football.com third-team All-Americans.
Hawkins, the 2010 SCAC Defensive Player-of-the-Year, yesterday was named to the Associated Press Little All-America third-team and was recently named to the D3football.com All-South team as a first-team selection. He led the SCAC in tackles for the second consecutive season. His 117 tackles this season are the ninth-most for a single season in league history and his 84 solo tackles are the third-most.
Hawkins registered double-digit tackles totals in eight of 10 games this year, including a career-high 21 against DePauw on Oct. 21.
Koors, the 2010 SCAC Offensive Player-of-the-Year, was also recently named to the D3football.com All-South second-team. He caught 86 passes for for 1,255 yards and 16 touchdowns to lead all SCAC receivers. He caught a touchdown pass in 10 of the Tigers' 11 games and tallied 100+ receiving yards in six games.
Koors finished his career as the SCAC all-time leader in receiving yards (3,850), total receptions (255), yards receiving per game (96.25), and receiving touchdowns (42). He is also the first receiver in league history to be named Offensive Player-of-the-Year twice (2009 & 2010).
Koors and Hawkins were also both named American Football Coaches Assocation (AFCA) All-Americans.
