Seven from SCAC Named to Division III Football Senior Classic Rosters

SALEM, Va. - Seven senior football student-athletes from the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference were named to the 2010 Division III Football Senior Classic South roster, the organization announced today. The game, a North vs. South all-star game, will be played at December 3 at 7 p.m. ET at Salem Stadium.  

Austin College had a league high four players named to the South team including offensive linemen Austin Light and Austin Sherman. Together the duo helped the Kangaroos to average 336.4 yards of offense per game. Light was also named first-team All-SCAC in 2010.

Also representing Austin College are defensive backs Matt Finke and Joshua Willis. Finke (first-team All-SCAC) totaled 33 tackles while tying for the league lead with five interceptions. Willis (Honorable Mention All-SCAC) combined for 81 total tackles while breaking up or defending four passes.

Highlighting the league's selections was SCAC Special Teams Player-of-the-Year Michael Galatas. Galatas, a receiver/kick returner was named first-team All-SCAC after finishing fifth in the league in all-pupose yards (1,260). He ended his career as the school's all-time leader in kick return yards (1,670) and second all-time in all-purpose yards (4,242). He finished the 2010 season with 47 catches for 566 yards and scored three touchdowns.

Joining Galatas is teammate Adam Williams. Williams, an offensive lineman, paced an offensive line that led the SCAC in total offense (407.6 yards per game) and helped running back Shane Bowser rush for nearly 1,100 yards while scoring 12 touchdowns.

Defensive end Tyler Doane helped lead DePauw to its second straight SCAC championship and the school's second straight trip to the NCAA Division III playoffs. In being named to the All-SCAC first team, Doane totaled registered 40 total tackles on the season, 10 of which went for loss including five sacks and forced two fumbles. The five total sacks tied for second in the SCAC.
