SCAC Lands Three NSCAA Women's College Scholar All-Americans; 21 Scholar All-Region Selections

SUWANEE, Ga. - Led by NSCAA Women's College Scholar All-America selections Jordan Azar, Abby Loar and Danika Wright of Trinity University, the NSCAA honored 19 other SCAC student athletes to Scholar All-Region Teams.

Azar, an economics and finance major (3.65), was elected to the NSCAA College Division Scholar All-America First Team. Earlier Azar was selected as an NSCAA Second Team All-American, as well as being named to the All-Region and All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Teams. She accounted for seven goals (one game-winner) and 11 assists during the season.
 
Wright, a business administration/accounting major (3.88), was elected to the NSCAA College Division Scholar All-America Second Team. She previously made the NSCAA All-Region Team, and the All-SCAC First Team. A 2009 All-American, Wright played a key role in Trinity's taut defense in 2010, which yielded only 11 goals (.55 per game) during the season. She scored five goals (two game-winners) and chalked up two assists.
 
Loar, an anthropology major (3.75), was elected to the NSCAA College Division Scholar All-America Second Team. Loar was earlier elected to the NSCAA All-America Third Team, in addition to the All-Region and All-SCAC Teams. She was the Tigers leading scorer, with 16 goals (five game-winners) and 11 assists. Loar's performance earned her the distinction of being named the SCAC Offensive Player of the Year.

Along with Azar, Wright and Loar, the SCAC had 19 other student athletes named to the NSCAA Scholar All-Region Teams.

Sarah Holifield, a senior business major (3.35) of Southwestern and Kelly Watts, a junior business-accounting major (3.84) of Trinity were named to the NSCAA Scholar All-South Region Third Team.

Senior biology major (3.47) Brittany Soto and junior psychology major (3.79) Linda Amaya both of Birmingham-Southern were also named to the NSCAA Scholar All-South Region Third Team.

The SCAC saw 14 student athletes earn NSCAA All-South Region Honorable Mention accolades.

Sarah Doherty of Rhodes, Lauren Metzger of Birmingham-Southern and Allison Price of Rhodes earned All-South Honorable Mention.

Austin College's Kaitlin Elledge, Nicole Breakling and Andrea Schnieder earned All-South Honorable Mention.

Millsaps' Callaghan Starrett, Emily Townsend, Jessica Harris and Hayley Nemeth along with Southwestern's Berkeley Mengwasser, Madison Stachura, Maria Pollifrone and Jillan Eurran all earned All-South Honorable Mention.
