SCAC Represented In 2011 Golf Coaches Association Of America Awards

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) was represented in the 2011 Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Division III Regional and National Awards, as announced by the coaches organization prior to the start of the NCAA Division III Championship.

Four student-athletes from the SCAC were named to the Division III PING All-Region teams. Those four players included Centre College's Chris Morris (2011 SCAC champion), Oglethorpe University's Craig Stevenson (2011 SCAC runner-up), Eric Quinn (2011 SCAC 7th-place) and DePauw University's Ryan Berra (2011 SCAC Tied for 8th-place).

Morris, Stevenson and Quinn were named to the Southeast Region team while Berra earned Great Lakes all-region team honors.

In addition to the PING All-Region teams, the SCAC had four student-athletes earn Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar honors. Those players included Morris, Oglethorpe's Matt Bernstein, Centre's Grant Hinton and Rhodes College's Brian Wolpert.

To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status, an individual must be a junior or senior academically and compete in at least two full years at the collegiate level, participate in 70-percent of his team's competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke average under 79.0 in Division III and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.20. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
