ITHACA, N.Y. - Trinity University Tigers junior
midfielder Kelly Watts has been elected to the ESPN College
Division Women's Soccer Academic All-America Team.
Watts, from Lakewood, Wash. (Bellarmine Preparatory), is a
classical studies major with a 3.84 GPA. She was selected for the
Academic All-America Third Team.
The ESPN Academic All-America program is administered nationwide by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Watts, a two-time Trinity Dean's List honoree, scored 11 goals (three-game winners) and dished out eight assists for the Tigers this season. She was named to the All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Second Team.
Trinity, led by seventh-year Head Coach Lance Key, completed the
campaign with an 18-2-0 record. The Tigers captured their fifth
SCAC Championship (10-0-0 record) under Coach Key's leadership, and
the 15th overall.
Coach Key also guided the Tigers to their sixth NCAA Division III
postseason appearance in seven years, and 16th overall. Trinity
shut out Puget Sound 2-0 in this year's NCAA opening round, and was
edged 2-1 by Hardin-Simmons in the second.
