MT. PLEASANT, Mich. - Birmingham-Southern College senior outfielder Drew Leachman and Trinity University senior catcher Kyle Felix were named to the 2011 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Division III All-American teams, the organization announced.
Leachman was named an ABCA first team All-American after he hit a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) leading .451 and helped the Panthers to a 30-9 overall record in 2011 and the program's second straight 30-win season.
Leachman, who was named the SCAC Player of the Year, ranked in the top-10 in the league in several offensive categories including batting average (.451 - 1st), slugging percentage (.648 - 4th), on-base percentage (.521 - 1st), runs (60 - 1st), hits (73 - 1st), RBI's (44 - 6th), doubles (16 - tied 4th), home runs (four - tied 9th) and total bases (105 - 2nd).
Felix, an ABCA second team All-America selection, earned All-SCAC first-team honors after hitting .365 with 14 home runs and 61 RBI's. He was named to the SCAC All-Tournament team after hitting .333 with two doubles, three RBI's, four runs scored and slugged .667 in leading the Tigers to their second consecutive SCAC championship and NCAA playoff berth. In the NCAA playoffs, Felix hit .364 (4 for 11) with a home run, one double and three RBI's. He slugged .727 and tallied a .563 on-base percentage.
Felix also ranked in the top-10 in the SCAC in numerous offensive categories including batting average (.365 - 10th), slugging percentage (.729 - 1st), runs scored (51 - 4th), hits (66 - 2nd), RBI's (61 - 1st), doubles (24 - 1st), home runs (14 - 1st) and total bases (132 - 1st).
