SCAC Announces 2011 Baseball All-Tournament Team

SUWANEE, Ga. - The Trinity University Tigers, thanks to their third Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference championship in four years and the program's seventh overall, placed a tournament-high six players on the 2011 SCAC Baseball All-Tournament team.

Entering the tournament as the number one seed from the West, the Tigers rattled off four wins over four days to win the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Baseball Championship for the second consecutive year. Junior pitcher Ben Klimesh (pictured right), who was selected to the all-tournament team for the second consecutive year, earned the win in the championship game and improved to 10-2 on the season. Klimesh was dominant in earning the win in the championship game by throwing a complete game while scattering eight hits, striking out 10 an allowing just one earned run.

Trinity's Kyle Felix (catcher), Will Donnan (first base) and Kevin Calbick (outfield) were all unanimous selections to the all-tournament team. Felix hit .333 with one home run, three RBI and two doubles. Donnan batted at a .455 clip while driving in five runs and hit a double. Calbick hit .462 with one home run, one double, five runs scored and six RBI.

Junior Nick Pappas joined Klimesh in earning all-tournament honors for a second straight year, though this time he was honored at designated hitter. Finally, Christian Muscarello rounded out Trinity's six selections as the first-year infielder was honored at the short stop position. Players were selected by the participating coaches of the event.

Muscarello hit .417 with one double, four runs scored and drew three walks in four games. Papas hit .357 with one home run, three doubles, seven RBI and tallied a .786 slugging percentage. Klimesh tallied a 0.90 earned run average and pitched one inning in relief in the Tigers win over DePauw along with his championship game win.

SCAC runner-up Hendrix had two players named to the all-tournament team followed by DePauw (one), Oglethorpe (one) and Rhodes (one). Trinity's Felix and Hendrix's Clark Sims were also SCAC All-Tournament team honorees in 2009.
