BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Birmingham-Southern sophomore Bruce Maxwell and senior Brandon Ricco have been named to D3Baseball.com's Preseason All-America Team, the organization announced today. Maxwell earned Second-Team honors, while Ricco was named Honorable Mention.

Honorable Mention honoree last year as a freshman, and was named to
the ABCA All-South Region Team. Maxwell was also voted SCAC
Newcomer of the Year and an All-SCAC selection. He led the
conference in home runs with 15 and finished second in slugging
percentage (.860) and RBIs (61).
Ricco was named Rawlings/ABCA Second-Team
All-America at the end of the 2010 campaign. He also received the
South Region Gold Glove from Rawlings and the ABCA and was an
All-South Region and All-SCAC selection. He led the Panthers in
batting average (.473), on-base percentage (.511), and hits (79)
last year, collecting the most hits of any player in the SCAC. On
the defensive end, Ricco posted a .976 fielding percentage,
committing just four errors in all 39 of the Panthers' games.
The Panthers open their 2011 schedule on the road at the Trinity
University Tournament, but open their home slate on Feb. 12 against
Maryville College at 1 p.m.
