Birmingham-Southern
went 2-1 this week, starting off with a 19-9 neutral-site loss to
Plattsburgh State in Columbia, S.C., before returning home and

and Hendrix (a 25-10 victory). BSC stays at home this week for two
games, taking on Fontbonne University, Thursday, and Oglethorpe on
Saturday.
Centre competed in its first conference game of
the season on Friday, March 18 when they took on Southwestern. The
Pirates were able to beat the Colonels by a score of 12-10. Late in
the game the Colonels tried to make a comeback when they were down
12-8, but the run came up short as they were only able to cut
Southwestern’s lead in half. The Colonels made it a 12-10
game with 2:46 left on the clock and they had a few shot attempts,
but they were unable to find the back of the cage. Both teams had
33 shots in the game and Centre had the 31-24 advantage in
ground-balls. Centre went 15-27 in face-offs and they were 27-29 on
clears. Next up for the Colonels will be a game against conference
opponent Colorado College at home on Monday, March 21.
Carson Christman struck for a pair of goals and set up two other
scores as Colorado College used a balanced attack
to post a 12-5 victory at Sewanee in the conference opener for both
teams on Saturday. Charles Curtis and James Mauk recorded two goals
and an assist, while Jack Kreitler and Moses Taylor each found the
net twice. The Tigers grabbed a 4-0 lead when Kreitler notched his
first marker with 5:04 remaining in the first period, but Sewanee

Kreitler and Mauk gave CC a 6-4 advantage, only to see Sewanee
score 56 seconds later to trim its deficit to 6-4 after 30 minutes.

exploded for six consecutive goals in the second half and did not
allow Sewanee to get on the scoreboard until it found the net in
the closing seconds. Christman and Will Harris scored 11 seconds
apart during the early stages of the third period and Taylor added
his second score just over five minutes later. CC sealed the
victory with three man-up goals in the fourth period. Zach Steedman

Wooster in Northwest Ohio for the final stop on its three-game
Spring Break Trip.

Oglethorpe was much closer but still unsuccessful as the Majors
fell 12-7 to the Petrels. Hunter Stevison had four of the Majors'

face Birmingham-Southern next Saturday.
Sewanee opened the conference portion of its
schedule with a weekend split, falling 12-5 to Colorado College
before topping Southwestern, 10-5. Against the Tigers, Sewanee fell

Graves tallied nine saves in taking the loss. Against the Pirates,
freshman Davis Brown broke open for five goals as the Tigers took
home their first conference victory of the season. Graves and Tommy
Healy split time in goal, with Graves picking up three saves to
Healy’s four. The Tigers held a 52-25 edge in shots and a
41-23 edge in groundballs over the Pirates. With the weekend split,

week after hosting nationally-ranked RPI at home on Tuesday. The
Pirates went 1-2 this week to move to 4-6 on the season, 1-1 in the
SCAC. RPI wasted no time getting on the board and scored off the
first two faceoffs and then mounted a 14-0 lead before SU got on
the board. Southwestern out-scored the Engineers in the fourth
quarter but fell 18-3. SCAC play opened for the Pirates on Friday
at Centre and in a close, thrilling match Southwestern pulled out
the win. Edward Williams started the scoring off for Southwestern,
assisted by Luther Faulk, just two minutes into the game. The
Pirates never trailed the rest of the way. Centre attempted a
comeback after Thomas Mock scored SU's 12th goal with just over 10
minutes to play, scoring two goals within a minute of each other to
pull within two, 10-12, but Southwestern stopped the attack to earn
the win. Sunday saw the Pirates face Sewanee on the Southwestern
defense came ready to play, holding the Tigers to just three goals
in the first half. A five goal third put Sewanee up by seven, 8-1,
