Austin College opened the year with a 1-1-1 record in its first week of action, getting a 2-1 win at the University of Dallas before falling 3-2 in overtime to UT-Dallas and finally battling to a 1-1 draw against the University of Puget Sound in the first home game of the season. Jason Campbell and Chris Melton each tallied a goal in the win over UD to kick off the season, and after falling behind 2-0 to UTD in the second half, the ‘Roos rallied with two late goals from Chris Stein and Sam Temple to force overtime, where they eventually fell to the Comets. Against Puget Sound, the ‘Roos again found themselves trailing late and once more it was Temple who came up with a dramatic late goal to force overtime. After scoring with less than three minutes left against UTD the night before, Temple scored at the 85:05 mark to send things into overtime against the Loggers and the ‘Roos would hold on for the draw thanks in large part to 10 saves in the game by Grant Gosselin. The ‘Roos head on the road this weekend to take on Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday and Concordia on Sunday.

Birmingham-Southern was at home this week to open their 2010 campaign, defeating Mississippi College on Wednesday before hosting the Jim 'n Nick's/Puma Labor Day Classic, taking on Washington University of St. Louis and Fontbonne University. The Panthers played to a scoreless draw with Washington and lost a tough 2-1 match to Fontbonne. Junior Garner Shivers led with two goals this week, while senior goalkeeper Shachar Hovan made 10 saves and allowed three goals for a 0.93 goals against average.

The Colonels dropped their first game to Chapman University 1-0 on Friday, before rebounding for a 2-0 victory against Asbury College on Saturday for their first win of the season. Centre, 1-1 on the year, holds their 21st Annual Bob Allen Nissan Classic over the weekend, with games against Oberlin College and Hiram College.
Matt Fechter scored a goal and assisted on another by freshman Sean Parham, fueling Colorado College to a 2-0 victory over Whitman College on the campus of Willamette University. Senior keeper Andy McGhie made six saves while posting his third career shutout. Fechter provided all the support McGhie would need just 16:56 into the match, rocketing a shot in the lower right corner of the Whitman net for his second tally of the season. The sophomore forward then redirected a corner kick that resulted in the goal by Parham, which started on a cross by freshman Ben Glass. The Tigers prevailed despite playing most of the second half a man down, due to a red card. Colorado College did almost everything right on Friday night, but the inability to finish its scoring chances led to a 2-0 loss at Willamette University. The Bearcats scored the only goal they would need in the 33rd minute and added an insurance goal 4:23 into the second on a penalty kick. The Tigers finished with a 20-9 advantage in total shots and a 9-5 edge in shots on goal. In Wednesday’s season opener, Division II CU-Colorado Springs scored during the sixth minute of overtime to escape with a 3-2 victory at Mountain Lion Stadium. Sophomore Kyle Buchwalder gave CC a 1-0 lead in the fourth minute when he headed in a corner kick by Fechter, but the lead vanished almost a minute later. The game remained tied until the Mountain Lions struck early in the second half, but this time it was the Tigers who notched the equalizer when Fechter converted on a penalty kick in the 66th minute. Colorado College plays its 2010 home opener on Saturday against McMurry University, and then plays host to Penn State Erie the following day.
DePauw opened the season with three straight shutouts as it blanked Rose-Hulman 3-0, Maryville (Tenn.) 2-0 and Spalding 3-0. Nate Sprenkel recorded nine saves in three games.
Hendrix opened its first week of the 2010 season with a dominant 4-2 midweek win over visiting East Texas Baptist University on Wednesday, before dropping a heartbreaker at LeTourneau University, 2-1, on Friday afternoon.  Hendrix sophomore forward Connor Silvestri was just one score away from tying his own program record of five goals, as he found the back of the net four times to lead the Warriors in their home-opener against ETBU.  Silvestri set the Warriors' record of five goals in a 10-1 win over Louisiana College on Sept. 5, 2009.  He scored his first goal of the night off a brilliant through pass from sophomore midfielder Dylan Reed in the 15th minute.  He then sent his first of two penalty kicks to the lower right 90 in the 44th minute to send Hendrix to halftime with a 2-0 lead.  After ETBU opened the second half with two unanswered goals, Silvestri recorded the go-ahead score in the 58th minute off a double assist from first year midfielder Grant Ingram and junior forward Duncan Keegan.  Silvestri's final penalty kick sailed past the keeper two minutes later to reach the final result. Hendrix junior goalkeeper Adam Legg made seven saves for the win.  Hendrix took a late lead on Silvestri's fifth goal of the regular season on a header off the post, but the lead would not last as LeTourneau responded with a pair of scores to take the 2-1 result on Friday.  Both squads took a while to settle in as the scoreboard read 0-0 after 45 minutes.  The Warriors' finally found the back of the net when Silvestri elevated over a pair of defenders and headed the ball to the back post off a cross from sophomore defender Grant Womack in the 61st minute.  LeTourneau tied the game in the 67th minute by collecting the rebound and sending the ball back across the goal.  The game-winner was scored 10 minutes later when a Yellow Jackets' forward won the ball over the Warriors' last defender, sophomore Ian Evans, and dribbled past Hendrix's diving goalkeeper.

Millsaps opened the season 2-0-1 this week, including two overtime games played at the Rhodes Greg Volgas Memorial Classic. They first hosted Louisiana College at Harper Davis Field for a 3-0 shutout. Malte Schick had a hand in two of the goals with one on target and one assist to Michael Pellissier. Johan Schlotmann scored the third goal and assisted in Schick’s. Over the weekend the Majors drew to a 1-1 tie with Webster University after neither team could score after two overtime periods. Schick again scored the goal for the Majors for his second on the season.  In Sunday’s finale it was Yuya Koyoshi who saved the Majors from another tie, scoring the game’s only goal in the second overtime period to defeat Principia 1-0.  The Majors will return to Harper Davis Field this Sunday to host Berry College for a 1:00 p.m. match.

The Tigers were unable to get anything going offensively and finished the night with ten shots on goal. Goalkeeper Freddie Delchamps collected three saves for the Tigers. Sewanee rebounded on Saturday and got their first win of the season, defeating Fontbonne University, 3-2. Sophomore Devon Ball contributed two goals to the Sewanee effort, while Garrett Schlosser added a third. The Tigers went up 3-0 before Fontbonne stormed back with two goals in the second half. Sewanee outshot Fontbonne 17-10 and Delchamps added three more saves on the year.

The Tigers lost for the second straight year to UMHB, falling in a 1-0 game on Saturday afternoon, but rebounded with a 3-2 win over UT-Tyler to finish off the holiday weekend on Sunday. Zach Garcia and Tommy Barros scored two goals each in the first three games, while Cameron Hogsett returned from a 2009 injury to grab a goal and three assists for the Tigers.  Newcomers Brian Hines and Denny Mask also added goals over the past week, while Garcia, Grant Shopoff, and Nima Naderi also contributed assists. Trinity is back on the road this weekend, facing off against Hardin-Simmons and UT-Dallas in Georgetown, Texas.  Last year, the Tigers beat Hardin-Simmons 4-0 and UT-Dallas 1-0 in the regular season, but HSU scored a win in the NCAA Playoffs to eliminate the Tigers from the tournament.
