DePauw Wins Seventh SCAC Women's Golf Championship

HORSESHOE, BAY, Texas - The second-ranked DePauw University Tigers led wire-to-wire as they earned the program's seventh Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference championship on Sunday at the Horseshoe Bay Resort Apple Wood course.  Final Women's Results | Official Site

The Tigers (964) outdistanced themselves from runner-up Centre College (989) by 25 strokes. Pacing DePauw was Paige Gooch, who earned SCAC Freshman of the Year honors as well as SCAC Player of the Year honors as she shot a three day total of +19 (235) over par. She headlined the All-SCAC first-team.

Along with Gooch, DePauw placed Kelly Gaughan (+27 - fourth), Taylor Beaty (+31 - sixth) and Camila Romero (+35 - 10th) in the top 10 individual standings. Natalie Gaugh finished on stroke behind teammate Romero in 11th.

With the SCAC championship, the Tigers earned the league's automatic bid to the 2011 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship.

All-SCAC first-team performances were turned in by Gooch, Rhodes College's Stephanie Mingos, Centre's Emily Bachert, Gaughan and Centre's Allison Hancock.

The All-SCAC second-team included Beaty, Centre's Whitney Miller, Southwestern University's Karissa Speck, Oglethorpe University's Laura Landry and Romero.
