DePauw Sits in Fourth; Centre in Eighth After Day One of the NCAA Women's Golf Championships

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla.
- Top-seeded DePauw shot an opening round 330 and is in fourth place at the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships at the Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort. Centre fired an opening round score of 340 and sits in eighth place after the first 18 holes of play. Official website

Camila Romero paced the DU Tigers with an 80 and is tied for eighth, while Kelly Gaughan and Paige Gooch each shot 83 to tie for 22nd. Natalie Gough followed with an 84 and is in a tie for 27th and Taylor Beaty is tied for 35th at 85.

Junior Emily Bachert is leading the way for the Colonels after posting an 80 in the first round of action to tie for eighth place and top individual finisher for the SCAC along with Romero of DePauw.

Sophomore Whitney Miller is tied for 35th place following a first round score of 85. Freshman Allison Hancock completed the first 18 holes of play with an 86 to tied for 41st place. Tied for 57th place is senior Paige Burton who recorded an 89. Sophomore Lauren Mashburn rounded out the top for the Colonels with a 96. She is tied for 88th place.

Individually Stephanie Mingos of Rhodes who is competing in her fourth NCAA Division III Golf Championships fired a round one total of 85 positioning her in a tie for 35th.

Methodist University is in first place with a team score of 318, while Gustavus Adolphus is in second place with a 322 and St. Mary's College is third with a 325.

The NCAA Division III Women's Golf Tournament will resume play on Wednesday, May 11 at the Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fl. with the second round of play.
