SUWANEE, Ga. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference placed four baseball student-athletes on the 2011 Capital One Academic All-District® teams, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Three first-team honorees highlight the selections.
Birmingham-Southern College's Sam Hill, Rhodes College's Hunter Chandler and Trinity University's Nick Pappas all earned first-team recognition.
Hill, a senior catcher from Mobile, Ala. carries a 3.67 Grade Point Average (GPA) as an accounting major. Chandler, a senior pitcher from Gainesville, Ga. maintains a sparkling 3.97 GPA as an economics/business major. The pair both were named to the District IV first-team.
Pappas, a senior designated hitter from Los Angeles, Calif. earned District VI first-team honors after carrying a 3.51 GPA as a history major.
As first-team selections, Pappas, Hill and Chandler will now advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first, second and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
Rouding out the league's selections was Millsaps College senior pitcher Josh Conlee. Conlee, a native of Monroe, La., earned District VI second-team honors after maintaining a 3.50 GPA as a biology major.
