SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Trinity University track and field's Zach Brush has been elected to the Capital One Academic All-America® Men's Track and Field/Cross Country College Division Third Team.

Voting for the award is conducted nationwide by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Earlier in the week, Brush was awarded a prestigious $7,500 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. He became the 33rd Tiger student-athlete to receive a Postgraduate Scholarship, and the third during the academic year. Trinity is ranked in the top-10 for Postgraduate Scholarships among NCAA Division III schools.

Brush earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Trinity in engineering science on May 14, and graduated cum laude (with honors). He finished his academic career with a 3.70 grade point average.

He plans to further his education in mechanical engineering, and is deciding on a graduate school. Brush hopes to eventually earn a doctoral degree, and conduct research and teach at the university level.

Brush was selected as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Year. He captured three events at the SCAC Championships in April at Memphis. Brush won the 800 meters in a SCAC record-meet time of 1:53.50, and became the first male athlete to win the event four straight years. He also took the 1,500 meters (3:56.28), and anchored the Tigers first-place 4x400-meter relay team, which clocked in at 3:22.63.

During the 2009-10 season, Brush earned his third career All-America honor by finishing fourth in the NCAA DIII Outdoor 800 meters. Brush had placed fifth in the race in 2008, during his first year at Trinity.

Brush was also a key member of the second-place distance medley team at the 2010 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.

A versatile student-athlete, Brush was an All-Region performer at the NCAA DIII regional meet last November, crossing the finish line in 15th place.
