Emily Wetmore Named New Birmingham-Southern Women's Lacrosse Head Coach

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Birmingham-Southern College has hired Emily Wetmore as its new Women’s Lacrosse Head Coach, Athletics Director Joe Dean, Jr., announced today.

Wetmore comes to BSC from Allegheny College in Meadville, Pa., where she was Assistant Coach for a year. Prior to that, she served as Assistant Coach at Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, N.H., for two seasons.

Wetmore played Division II collegiate lacrosse for three seasons at Stonehill College in Easton, Mass., helping lead the Skyhawks to the 2005 NCAA Division II National Championship. She played in the IWLCA Division II Senior All-Star Game in Valley Forge, Pa., in June 2007, after helping guide Stonehill to its ninth-straight regular season title and eighth-straight Northeast-10 tournament championship.

Wetmore also played in Australia for USA Athletes International for two weeks in June 2004. She graduated from Stonehill with a degree in Criminology in May 2007.

She will begin her duties on the Hilltop on Jan. 3, 2011.
