DANVILLE, Ky. -
Trinity's women's soccer team earned a 1-0 win at Centre College to win the 2010 SCAC Championship on Sunday afternoon.

Trinity (17-1, 10-0 SCAC) won its 16th consecutive game on Sunday, getting the better of Centre in the winner-take-all match.  A win by Centre would have clinched the championship for the Colonels.

Instead, the Tigers take home their fifth SCAC Championship under Head Coach Lance Key, and the team's 15th overall conference crown.

Abby Loar scored her 15th goal of the season in the 25th minute, which turned out to be the game-winner.  Lindsey Neubauer assisted on the goal.  The 15 goals this season put Loar into the top 10 in school history in single season scoring, and ties her own total from last year.  Her 40 points scored this season (15 goals, 10 assists) are also eighth in Trinity history for one year.

Goalkeeper Katie Garrett earned her eighth shutout of the season, recording four saves against 10 shots faced.  It was the 12th shutout of the season for the Tiger team.

Trinity concluded its regular season with today's win, but earns the SCAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Women's Soccer Playoffs.  The Tigers will await Monday's announcement of the playoff bracket and host sites.
