CLEVELAND, Ohio - Currently in 38th place, Trinity University leads all SCAC institutions in the prestigious 2010-2011 Division III Learfield Sports Directors' Cup final fall standings. Complete NACDA Release
Trinity has amassed 114 points in the standings, based on
NCAA postseason competition, on the strength of its ninth place
finish in men's soccer and 17th place in women's soccer.
Washington (Mo.) University leads all of Division III with 336
points. Calvin (Mich.) College is second with 327 points and
Middlebury (Vt.) College follows closely in third with 325
points.
Other SCAC schools in the final fall rankings include Rhodes
College (65 points - 76th place), Colorado College (64 points
- tied for 77th), Southwestern University (50 points - tied
for 89th), DePauw University (25 points - tied for 119th)
and Centre College (10 points - tied at 180th).
The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint
effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of
Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each
institution's finish in up to 18 sports -- nine women’s and
nine men’s.
All seven fall NCAA championships have been completed with the
following institutions capturing titles: men’s cross country
- Haverford (Pa.); women’s cross country - Middlebury (Vt.);
women’s volleyball - Calvin (Mich.); field hockey –
Bowdoin (Maine); men’s soccer – Messiah (Pa.);
women’s soccer – Hardin-Simmons (Tex.); football
– Wisconsin Whitewater.
