COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado College senior defender Zach Hoisington was named a preseason honorable-mention All-American by InsideLacrosse.com as part of its Face-off Yearbook 2011.
“Zach is very deserving of this attention,”
head coach Guy Van Arsdale said. “He is big, athletic, and a
very aggressive defender. He is a stopper who is able to match up
on any type of attackman. We have high expectations for him
and will game plan using his skills as a focal point for our
defense.”
Hoisington, the 2010 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference
Defensive Player of the Year, helped lead the Tigers to the
inaugural conference title. They finished the season with a 10-2
overall record.
Hoisington anchored a defense which allowed an average of only
6.29 goals per game. He was fourth on the team with 14 caused
turnovers and sixth with 33 ground balls.
Colorado College plays scrimmages against the University of
Colorado and Colorado State University Club teams before officially
opening the season on March 12 and 13 against Goucher College and
at Swarthmore College, respectively.
