TIM LEATHERMAN OF MCMURRY UNIVERSITY, a senior defensive back from Ingram, Texas, has been named the SCAC Football Defensive Player of the Week for games played Saturday, September 14. SCAC Football Release (Week 2)
Leatherman had two pick-sixes from his position in the secondary, including one on the second play of the game, to lead McMurry in its 48-6 victory over Lyon. The sophomore had interception returns of 39 and 44 yards and also added four tackles as the War Hawks held Lyon to 217 total years, including just 132 through the air.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore defensive back Troy Tomaselli of Texas Lutheran had eight tackles to open conference play in Saturday's 31-8 victory against Centenary. Sophomore defensive lineman Kris Mesloh of Centenary had a solid all-around performance for the Gents on Saturday night at TLU in their SCAC opener as he recorded six total tackles, blocked a field-goal attempt, and forced a fumble. Mesloh had four solo tackles and two assisted tackles, and a half-sack.
