KANE STROHMAN OF MCMURRY UNIVERSITY, a senior defensive lineman from Katy, Texas, has been named the SCAC Football Defensive Player of the Week for games played Saturday, October 12. SCAC Football Release (Week 6)
Strohman had a school-record 6.5 tackles for loss, which ties for the third-most in a single game in SCAC history, in the War Hawks' 28-10 conference victory at Centenary. He finished the game with seven total tackles, including 2.5 sacks, and the team finished with 18 tackles for loss, tying the SCAC single-game mark which was first established by Rose-Hulman in 2002 (against Earlham).
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Graduate linebacker Colton Gerken of Austin College came up huge as the 'Roos won their first game of the season against SCAC foe Lyon, making a career-high 22 stops in a 35-17 victory. That tackle total is just shy of ranking in the top 10 individual tackle performances in SCAC history. Among his 22 tackles, Gerken had 1.5 tackles-for-loss in the win. Sophomore defensive lineman Kris Mesloh of Centenary had an impressive performance for the Gents on Saturday night against McMurry at home as he finished with five total tackles (three solo) and had one sack and a pair of tackles for loss.
