LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - All SCAC Volleyball teams were in action this past weekend as the first cross-divisional of the season took place at Schreiner University, highlighted by No. 9 Colorado College taking down No. 8 Trinity, 3-0.
Colorado College (18-2 overall) went 5-0 in conference matches this past week, including the A4 mention Top-10 match up against Trinity. In that match CC hit .353 as a team, led by Allie Freeburg with 12 kills, her seventh match of the season in double figures. The Tigers also picked up wins over St. Thomas (3-0), Austin College (3-0) and TLU (3-0) over the weekend and defeated JWU (3-0) earlier in the week.
Trinity (16-4 overall) is now 8-1 in conference after securing wins over Centenary (3-0), Dallas (3-0) and Southwestern (3-0). The Tigers bounced back after their lone loss of the weekend with a Sunday sweep, with Annie Rose Leggett leading the way posting double-doubles in matches played against Dallas and Southwestern. In the Tigers’ win over Dallas, Head Coach Julie Jenkins secured her 950thcareer win, ranking her third all-time for victories in Division III.
Six teams went 2-2 at the cross-divisional.
Southwestern (6-3 SCAC; 13-8 overall) started the week with a conference win over TLU (3-1) on Tuesday. The Pirates took down Austin College (3-0) and JWU (3-0) on Saturday before falling to No.8 Trinity and St. Thomas Sunday. Emma White led the way for the Pirates in their two wins totaling 22 digs and 19 kills.
Austin College (10-13 overall) sits at 5-4 in conference, earning victories over Schreiner (3-0) on Saturday and Centenary (3-2) Sunday, led by Hannah Arbaugh with a combined total of 24 kills and 22 digs.
Centenary (5-5 SCAC; 8-16 overall) picked up wins over TLU (3-2) and JWU (3-0). Ami Powers led the way with 17 kills and 19 digs in the victory over TLU. Earlier in the week the Ladies split non-conference matches against Jarvis Christian (3-0) and Grambling (2-3).
TLU (4-5 SCAC; 11-11 overall) earned its split with wins over Dallas (3-1) and Schreiner (3-0). Bryten Mitchan led the Bulldogs in those two wins with 25 total kills.
Dallas (4-5 SCAC; 9-12 overall) secured victories over JWU (3-0) and St. Thomas (3-0), with Dayjah Whyte and Isabel Garcia leading the way with combined total of 25 kills and 16 digs in their win against JWU.
The host school Schreiner’s (2-7 SCAC; 6-13 overall) defeated St. Thomas (3-1) and JWU (3-1) with Kayla Lofland picking up 18 kills and 14 digs in victory over St. Thomas. The Mountaineers picked-up non-conference win against Howard Payne, 3-1 on Wednesday.
In St. Thomas’s (3-7 SCAC; 5-12 overall) victory over Southwestern 3-2, Alaina Lanik led the Celts posting 16 kills and 14 digs.
Eight of the ten SCAC volleyball teams return to the court next week, highlighted by the only conference match of the week - Southwestern at TLU.
