LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Trinity made its one shot lead hold up and defeated Southwestern by that same margin at the SCAC Preview, which was contested Monday and Tuesday at the Vaaler Creek Golf Club in Blanco, Texas.
The Tigers shot a 326 on Monday to Southwestern's 327 and then both fired rounds of 326 on Tuesday.
Trinity was led by sophomore Sarah Buss, who tied for first place individually with Schreiner's Reygan Rodriguez with a two-round score of 160 (81-79). Buss parred the first playoff hole to earn medalist honors. Also finishing in the top 10 for the Tigers was Raquel Hill and Joanna Kass, who tied for sixth place with two-day totals of 164.
Southwestern was led by Madison Goldberg and Linsey Garza, who both finished one shot back of Buss and Rodriguez with two-round scores of 161.
Led by Rodriguez, Schreiner finished third in the eight-team field (although only five teams scored) with a two-day team total of 710. Rounding out the SCAC squads, St. Thomas was fourth, just one shot behind Schreiner at 711, and Johnson & Wales was fifth at 1333.
Dallas and Texas Lutheran sent individuals to compete but did not field enough golfers to score. TLU's Wynter Flores finished tied for third (with Goldberg and Garza) with a two-day total of 161.
