LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- There’s just over five weeks remaining for the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men’s basketball teams to claim their spot in the conference tournament. 

Trinity (4-4 SCAC; 6-9 Overall) went 2-0 at home over the weekend with victories over JWU (80-64) and Colorado College (85-82). In Friday’s win over JWU, Luke Stuart led the Tigers with a career-high 21 points, with two other players scoring in double figures. Led by David Nickell who had 17 points and eight rebounds, Trinity secured its third consecutive home win with Saturday’s win over CC. Luke Stuart added 16 points for the Tigers. Head Coach Pat Cunningham earned his 500th career-win in Saturday’s victory, becoming the first coach in SCAC history to reach that career milestone. 

Schreiner (3-5 SCAC; 5-10 Overall) also went 2-0 over the weekend with wins over Colorado College (81-63) and JWU (84-76). Trailing 41-33 at the half, the Mountaineers outscored CC by 26 points in the second half to earn the come from behind win. Matthew Rindahl led the way with 22 points and Paul Wells added 20. In Saturday’s victory over JWU Wells had another 20-point performance and Alex Dehoyos added 17. 

St. Thomas (15-1 Overall) moved to 8-1 in SCAC play with a victory over Centenary (94-68) on Saturday – the only game of the week for both teams. Nathan Thormaehlen turned in a double-double performance of 16 points and 12 rebounds with Joshua Sanchez recording 17 points and nine re-bounds. 
Cedric Harris’ 23 points led the way for Centenary. 

Austin College (4-4 SCAC; 7-8 Overall) split its two games over the weekend, dropping an 87-84 decision to Southwestern on Friday before rebounding with a 96-92 win over Texas Lutheran on Saturday. Michael Holland had a huge weekend for the ‘Roos, culminating with career-highs of 35 points and 17 rebounds in Saturday’s victory over TLU. Three other ‘Roos scored in double-figures in the game, including Roman Strickland coming off the bench to add 19. Holland had 30 points in Friday night’s loss to Southwestern. 

Texas Lutheran (7-2 SCAC; 10-6 Overall) also split games over the weekend, earning a 75-62 victory over Dallas on Friday before losing to Austin College (96-92) on Saturday. In Friday’s win, TLU shot 50 percent from the floor in the second half while holding Dallas to 34.6 percent. Sebastian Andrade and Jamir Mason led the Bulldogs, with each scoring 18 points. In Saturday’s loss, Andrade led the Bulldogs with a career-high 36 points and added 13 rebounds.  

Dallas (9-6 Overall) is now 5-3 in SCAC play, rebounded from its loss to TLU on Friday with a 72-66 victory over Southwestern on Saturday. Dustin Mathis and Jai Love both had career-highs with Mathis recording 21 points and Love scoring 18 to lead the Crusaders to victory, while Michael Wambsganss added 14. 

Southwestern (4-5 SCAC; 8-8 Overall) also split games, with a win over Austin College (87-84) on Friday. Kyle Howard led the Pirates with a team-high 21 points while adding five assists and four steals. Kyle Poerschke (11) and Joel Martinez (13) joined Howard scoring in double-figures for the Pirates. 

All 10 SCAC men’s basketball teams are in action this week with 10 games on the schedule. The action tips off on Tuesday as Austin College travels to Dallas.
