LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men’s tennis action continued last week with six teams in action, with both Trinity and Southwestern posting undefeated records.

No. 12 Trinity posted three wins last week to improve to 12-6 overall and 11-1 against Div. III opponents, extending its winning streak to 10 consecutive matches.

The Tigers defeated East Texas Baptist and Schreiner on Saturday and then knocked off St. Thomas on Sunday all by identical 9-0 scores. Junior Wilson Hamilton went 3-0 in singles, winning twice at the No. 3 position and once at the No. 4 line. Hamilton has now won seven consecutive matches to improve to 9-4 overall this season in singles action.

Sophomore Artur Zigman teamed up with Hamilton to post a perfect 3-0 record in doubles at the three line for the Tigers. The duo improved to 7-4 as a team this spring, extending their winning streak to four matches.

No. 24 Southwestern defeated Texas Lutheran, 9-0, last Thursday in its lone match of the week to improve to 6-1 on the season.  Steven Tibbetts clinched the match for the Pirates winning at the No. 4 singles line, 6-0, 6-0.

Earlier in doubles play, Jeremy Wilson and Carlos Esteban Rodero teamed up together for the first time this season to earn an 8-1 win at the three line.

Schreiner split a pair of matches last week, to improve to 3-8 on the year, defeating ETBU, 5-4, before falling to Trinity. Austin Cervantes was the lone double winner for the Mountaineers in the win over the Tigers, teaming up with Mario Gallinar to earn an 8-1 win in doubles before picking up a 6-4, 6-2, win at No. 4 singles.

Texas Lutheran bounced back from its loss to Trinity to knock off Howard Payne, 8-1, last Saturday, avenging a 5-4 loss earlier in the season to the Yellow Jackets. The Bulldogs swept doubles and picked up singles wins at the No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 spots for the convincing victory. Alex Talley emerged victorious at the top double and singles line for the Bulldogs.

Austin College earned its first win of the spring season last week after defeating University of the Ozarks, 8-1, on Saturday. Andres Padilla, Calum Robe, Preston Spivey, Siddharth Kortikere and PJ Cabato were all double winners on the afternoon.

SCAC men’s tennis action continues with a light week this week as just three teams are in action, highlighted by Colorado College returning to the hard courts as the Tigers head to Florida for their spring break trip.
