KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Led by first-team selections Kristen Canepa, Camryn Beall and Kaity Ward of Trinity and Migui Boldrin and Kyra Montes of Centenary, the SCAC had 11 student-athletes from four different institutions selected to the United States Coaches All-West Region team on Monday.

The five first-team selections are the most since the 2010 season when the SCAC also placed five on the top All-Region team, while the 11 total student athletes from four different squads both represents the high-water mark since the league accomplished both in the 2011 season.

Canepa, a senior defender and back-to-back SCAC Defensive Player-of-the-Year honoree, was selected first-team All-Region for the second consecutive season. She spearheaded a Tiger defense, which posted 15 shutout games and contributed offensively with five goals, two game-winners, and two assists.

Beall is earning All-Region honors for the first time in her career following a first-team All-SCAC performance this season. A sophomore midfielder, Beall paced the Tigers with nine goals on the year, tying for a team-high with three game-winners and posted one assist.

Ward, a sophomore forward, led the Tigers with 21 points during the season on seven goals and seven assists. A first-team All-SCAC honoree, Ward accounted for two game-winning goals on the year and is making her first appearance on an All-Region squad.

Boldrin, the SCAC Offensive Player-of-the-Year, led the conference in goals (16), shots (97), points (39) and game-winning goals (5) en route to being named All-Region. The senior midfielder, who is Centenary’s first student-athlete to earn POTY honors in any fall sport since the institution joined the league prior to the 2012 season, is making her first appearance on an All-Region team.

Montes, a senior forward, is a three time first-team All-SCAC honoree and earned her first All-Region accolade in 2019. She led the SCAC in points per game, averaging 2.29 ppg on 11 goals and 10 assists in just 14 games played this season.

The SCAC also landed three student-athletes on the All-West Region second-team in Southwestern senior teammates goalkeeper Mary Cardone and defender Romie Reyna along with Dallas freshman Alycca Mencacci.

Cardone and Reyna, both first-team All-SCAC selections, led the Pirates to their first-ever SCAC Tournament Title and NCAA Tournament appearance this fall. The two anchored a defense that allowed just 20 goals in 22 games, sporting a 0.91 goals-against-average while posting posted 12 shutouts. For Cardone, this is the second consecutive year she has been named second-team All-Region, while Reyna is making her debut on an All-Region team.

Mencacci, the SCAC Newcomer-of-the-Year and second-team All-SCAC selection, led the Crusaders in points (18), goals (8) and game-winning goals (4) to go along with two assists on the season.

Rounding out the All-Region selections, the SCAC had three additional student-athletes named to the All-West third-team in Dallas’ May Lien Le, Trinity’s Cece Hendricks and Southwestern’s Alexis Guajardo.

Lien Le, a sophomore defender and first-team All-SCAC honoree, anchored a Crusader defense that allowed 22 goals in 19 games, and posted the league’s fourth best goals-against-average (1.13) with five shutouts on the year. Her and Mencacci are the first two Crusaders in program history to earn All-Region honors.
