LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - In a week of limited action, only two of the league's eight teams navigated the links for tournament play.
The week was highlighted by the University of St. Thomas women's golf team taking second place at the University of Houston–Victoria Fall Classic on Monday. The Celts finished with a team score of 321, only 12 strokes behind Tyler Junior College's winning score of 309 after weather forced the cancellation of Tuesday's final round. UST's four high-scorers all finished in the event's top 10 individually, led by sophomore Courtney Krause who fired an opening round 78 to finish in a fourth-place tie with Tyler Junior College's Kaitlyn Charles.
The Johnson & Wales University women's golf team opened the 2019-20 season Sunday at the Wisconsin Lutheran Invitational at New Berlin Golf Course where senior Shundiin Kauffman led the Wildcats with a round of 125, placing her 18th individually. The team finished fourth with a total of 553.
Action picks up considerably next week with five SCAC teams - Centenary, Dallas, Southwestern, Texas Lutheran and Trinity - competing at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Lady Crusader Invitational on Monday, Sept. 30 and Tuesday, Oct. 1. Johnson & Wales opens the week of competiton at the Linfield College Fall Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 28 and 29.
