LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's golf fall season continued last week with five of the league's eight teams in action, highlighted by Southwestern and Dallas participating at the prestigious Rhodes College Fall Classic at Tunica National on Sunday and Monday.

The Southwestern squad held steady on the final day of the Rhodes Fall Classic, finishing second with a three-round score of 873 to finish nine over par among a field where 12 of the 20 participating schools were ranked in the GolfStat Top 50. The Pirates shot 294 on the final day after shooting 290 and 289 in the first two rounds while first-place Huntingdon College improved each round, finishing with a three-round score of 846 to finish 18 under par at the 20-team event. Christian Rodriguez paced Southwestern, placing in the top five with a combined score of 212 after shooting 70, 72 and 70. Rodriguez was solid throughout, finishing third overall in the 104-player field with 38 pars and 10 birdies. 

Dallas finished with a 301 in the third and final round to post an 894 overall (+30) and dipped to seventh after being tied for fifth heading into the final day. Jacob Wade delivered his best all-around performance of the fall season, finishing with a 217 overall to tie for 11th place among individuals.

Centenary College earned a team win at the Louisiana College Fall Invite, finishing first with a 596 (+20) in the four-team field with rounds of 304 and 292. Richard Polan tied for medalist honors after posting back to back rounds of 73 to finish with a 146 (+2). The Gents had four players finish among the top seven golfers at the event. 

The St. Thomas men's golf team finished sixth out of eight teams at the University of Houston–Victoria Fall Classic on Monday. The event was scheduled for two rounds, with the second round to be completed Tuesday, but inclement weather forced the cancellation of the last round. Monday's first-round scores were declared final. Bradley McCaleb and Nick Morris led the Celts as they both carded a 75 Monday - good for 18th place on the individual leaderboard.

Johnson & Wales opened the 2019-20 season Saturday at the Wisconsin Lutheran Invitational, finishing with a team total of 410 - five shots back of eighth-place Marian - after Sunday's second and final round was cancelled due to weather. Alex Fernandez led the Wildcats with a 2-over 74 at Washington County Golf Course - tied for sixth with four other golfers and four shots back of the lead.

Play continues next week with three teams in action, including St. Thomas and Trinity at the UMHB Fall Intercollegiate Invitational on Sunday and Monday, Sept. 30 and Oct. 1. JWU-Denver kicks off the week with action at the Linfield College Fall Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 28-29.
