LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference women’s swimming & diving returned to action last week following a week off from competition as Austin College, Centenary and McMurry all competed at the Hendrix Invitational and Colorado College took on CSU-Pueblo in a dual meet.
Centenary was the top finishing SCAC school in Conway, Arkansas coming in third with 521 points, followed by Austin College in fourth (323) and McMurry finished sixth out of eight teams with 247 total points. Host Hendrix College won the meet with a total of 732.5 points.
The Ladies were led by sophomore Brianna Serret after she turned in a pair of gold medal performances and finished the meet with a trio of top three performances. Serret won both the 100- and 200-Fly with times of 58.29 and 2:14.29 respectively. She also finished third in the 100-yard back, hitting the wall in 1:00.59.
Freshman Liberty Chanin highlighted the scoring for the ‘Roos. The Irving, Texas native turned in a gold medal performance in the 1650-yard freestyle, hitting the wall first with a time of 19:17.07.
The War Hawks got a strong performance out of freshman Madelaine Smith, claiming a top-10 finish in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing ninth with a time of 1:07.59.
Colorado College edged out CSU-Pueblo, 153-128, last Saturday afternoon sparked by three individual wins from senior Jio Chang. Chang captured the 200-yard freestyle (1:59.32), the 100-yard fly (1:00.13) and the 200 IM (2:15.84) to anchor the Big Cats. On the boards, senior Riley Wadehra won the 3-meter competition with a score of 247.65 and finished second in the 1-meter (253.05).
SCAC women’s swimming & diving will be idle next week before closing out the holiday schedule with Trinity competing in the Holiday Invitational on December 16th-17th and Southwestern taking on Carthage in a dual meet on December 18th.
