Trinity's Canepa and Centenary's Boldrin Earn All-American Honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Trinity University senior Kristen Canepa and Centenary College senior Migui Boldrin have been elected to the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Women’s All-America Team it was announced Thursday evening. Full Release 

Canepa, who was voted back-to-back SCAC Defensive Player-of-the-Year in 2019, was selected first-team All-America for the second consecutive season. A defender, Canepa is just the second SCAC student-athlete to earn back-to-back first-team All-America honors, joining former TU Tiger Emily Jorgens who earn the distinction in 2013 and 2014. She led a taut Tiger defense which posted 15 shutouts and allowed opponents to score only 0.49 goals each matchup.

Offensively, Canepa scored five goals, two of which were game-winners, along with chalking up two assists. During her career, Canepa fired in eight goals, with three game-winners, and sent four assists to her teammates. Trinity finished the season with a 17-4-1 overall mark, including a perfect 8-0-0 record in SCAC competition. The Tigers advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the 11th-consecutive season, defeating Pacific Lutheran, 2-1, in overtime before falling in the second-round to Hardin-Simmons.

Boldrin, the SCAC Offensive Player-of-the-Year, was named to the second-team after leading the conference in goals (16), shots (97), points (39) and game-winning goals (5). The midfielder earns the distinction of being the first player in program history (Div. I or Div. III) to be named an All-American. Centenary set Division III era (2011-present) team records this season for wins (16), goals (47), assists (39), points (132), and shots (327).

Canepa and Boldrin mark the 62nd and 63rd All-America recognitions by SCAC women’s soccer student athletes in conference history and were both tabbed for the United Soccer Coaches All-West Region Team earlier in the week.

Both seniors will be formally acknowledged for their accomplishments at the United Soccer Coaches All-America Ceremony & Reception on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020 at the Baltimore Convention Center in conjunction with the United Soccer Coaches Convention.
