CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Southwestern sophomore Madison Goldberg and Texas Lutheran senior Summer Swift were both named to the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) NCAA Division III All-West Region team in an announcement made on Monday.
In her first season at Southwestern after transferring from the NCAA Division I Texas Tech University golf team, Goldberg finished with the second-best individual season scoring average in program history at 78.31 through 13 rounds, finishing just behind senior Emily Campbell's mark of 78.00 through 17 rounds set in the 2017-18 season.
Goldberg paced the Pirates with four top-five finishes in six events, winning the Lady Crusader Fall Invitational with a score of 153, placing second in the Rockwind Links Intercollegiate with a season-best score of 144, tying for third in the SCAC Preview at 161, and notching a 153 at the Lady Bulldog Fall Classic to tie for fourth. She finished ranked No. 13 in the region by Golfstat.
TLU's Swift, a four-year letter-winner and the 2018 SCAC tournament medalist, won three collegiate tournaments and tied for another (losing on a scorecard playoff) in her four years with the Bulldogs. She was named an SCAC Women's Golfer of the Week on six different occasions.
This season, Swift was the 71st ranked player in Division III when the spring season came to a premature ending, posting a 77.57 adjusted scoring average. She paced the Bulldogs in all but one tournament this year, finishing as runner-up at the TLU Lady Bulldog Fall Classic with a score of 150, winning the McMurry Intercollegiate with a score of 148, finishing sixth at the Lady Crusader Fall Invitational with a score of 155, and placing fifth with a score of 161 at the Trinity Alamo City Classic. She finished 10th at the SCAC Preview with a 168 - the only tournament she didn't lead her team in scoring.
