LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -
 It was another full weekend of Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer action as Colorado College, St. Thomas and Texas Lutheran sit tied atop the table with nine points through two weekend of league play.

Colorado College (8-5-0, 3-1-0) posted a perfect 2-0 record last week at home, defeating Southwestern, 1-0, on Friday night before exploding for five goals in a 5-1 win against Texas Lutheran on Sunday. The win over the Bulldogs marked the second time this season the Tigers have scored five goals in a single game, the first time CC has accomplished the feat since the 2015 season. Junior Will Mallory scored his second goal of the season to secure the win Friday night, while freshman Griffin Meyer scored twice in the win over TLU on Saturday.

St. Thomas (7-5-0, 3-1-0) secured a pair of 1-0 shutouts over the weekend, defeating Trinity on Friday and Schreiner on Sunday to extend its win streak to three and make it four wins in its last five. The win over Trinity marked the first time since September 2013 the Tigers had been shutout at home in a conference match. Junior Luis Bencomo scored in the 89th minute to lift the Celts over the Tigers in the weekend opener and then assisted on junior Tom Hultsch’s goal in the 30th minute which proved to be the difference against the Mountaineers on Sunday. Sophomore Pedro Medrano combined to make eight saves en rout to posting two shutouts.

Texas Lutheran (9-4-0, 3-1-0) split road matches last weekend, defeating Johnson & Wales (1-11-1, 0-4-0), 4-3, in a double overtime thriller on Friday before falling to Colorado College on Sunday. Freshman Marco Roman scored twice in the opening 57 minutes as TLU jumped out to a 3-1 lead over JWU before the Wildcats forced OT with an own goal securing the two extra points for the Bulldogs. Roman would finish the weekend with three goals, as he scored the lone goal for TLU in the 5-1 loss to CC.

Southwestern (8-3-2, 2-1-1) currently sits fourth in the league standings with seven points after splitting road fixtures in Colorado last weekend. The Pirates rebounded from their loss to Colorado College on Friday night to defeat Johnson & Wales, 3-2, in overtime on Sunday. Sophomore Seth Holzmann scored less than two minutes into overtime to give Southwestern the win. It was his fifth goal and third game-winner of the year.  

Trinity (6-3-2, 2-1-0) bounced back from its loss on Friday to shutout Centenary (6-4-0, 2-2-0), 2-0, on Sunday. Quentin Van Der Lee scored twice as the junior posted his first multi-goal game of his Trinity career and senior Blake Lieberman was credited with two saves for his first shutout of the season.

Dallas (3-6-1, 1-1-1) defeated Austin College (3-8-1, 0-3-0), 1-0, in double overtime to secure its first SCAC win of the season in the only match for both teams last week. Hunter Haugland scored his sixth goal of the year in the 105th minute to give the Crusaders the victory. It was the second game-winning goal of the season for the senior. Junior Caleb Strange played the entire match in goal for the Crusaders, making two saves, as he posted his first shutout of the year.

Schreiner (3-9-1, 1-2) split home matches last week, handing Centenary its first conference loss of the year, 1-0, on Friday night before falling to St. Thomas by the identical score on Sunday. Freshman Blaze Presley scored his first career goal in the 75th minute and classmate Cody Smith made six saves to post his second shutout of the year for the win.

League play continues this week with five matches scheduled on Friday and four on Sunday, highlighted by Trinity traveling to face Southwestern and Texas Lutheran.
