LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference women’s swimming & diving returned to the pool following the holiday break as Austin College hosted Centenary, McMurry, Ozarks and three other institutions for the Austin College Invitational last Saturday at the Hannah Natatorium in Sherman, Texas.
Centenary was the top finishing SCAC school coming in third with 327 points, followed by Austin College in fourth (266), Ozarks in fifth (122) and McMurry rounded out the field in seventh with 106 total points. Oklahoma Christian University won the meet with a total of 787.5 points.
The Ladies were led by sophomore Brianna Serret winning the 100-yard butterfly, hitting the wall n 1:01.32. Additionally, Serret finished second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.71. Other highlights included sophomore Kaylin Swoboda taking home second in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:40.02 and junior Sarah Harrison finishing third in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:41.73).
Freshman Liberty Chanin led the way for Austin College with a second-place finish in the 500-freestyle, coming in with a time of 5:30.42. Chanin also added a sixth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle after posting a time of 2:06.37.
Ozarks was led by freshman Rosie Wade’s pair of top six finishes. Wade finished fourth in the 500-yard freestyle, hitting the wall in 5:51.42 and she finished sixth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 58.41.
McMurry saw two different swimmers post top five results as freshman Molly Herrera was the top War Hawk finisher, with a fourth-place time in the 1,000-yard freestyle of 12:07.03. Senior Jessica Gryder had a strong showing in the 50-yard freestyle, taking fifth with a time of 28.29.
SCAC women’s swimming & diving will continue this week highlighted by Colorado College and McMurry participating in the CC Classic. Austin College will host Centenary and Southwestern travels to Trinity for respective dual meets.
