TEMPE, Ariz. - Trinity junior Cameron Krimbill has earned a slot on the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Singles All-America Team. Complete NCAA Div. III ITA Men’s All-American Team
Krimbill captured the Singles title last fall at the ITA Southwest Region Championships at Georgetown, Texas. The fifth-seeded Krimbill defeated #4 Angelo Yasuro Ito Tost of the University of the Ozarks (AR) in the final.
The victory guaranteed Krimbill a position in the ITA Cup at Rome, Georgia. He was edged in a three-set first-round battle by Vishnu Joshi of Johns Hopkins (MD) University. Krimbill then bounced back to defeat Antonio Mora of Emory (GA) University, winning a three-setter in the consolation round. In the Consolation Semifinals, Krimbill came up short in a three-set matchup to Sebastian Castillo-Sanchez of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (NY), and finished in a tie for 11th place.
In the abbreviated spring dual-match season, Krimbill won three matches in a row and finished with a 7-8 overall record, including a 6-7 mark at #1 singles. He went 7-2 in singles matches against Division III opponents and was ranked 12th nationally by the ITA. Krimbill was also ranked fourth in the ITA West Region.
Led by 11th-year Head Coach Russell McMindes, the Tigers sizzled by winning their final 10 matches and posted a 12-6 record, including an 11-1 mark against DIII teams. Trinity received a final ranking of #12 in the nation by the ITA Poll.
