Tigers Sweep TLU, Stay Perfect in SCAC

Colorado College wrapped up a perfect weekend with a 25-20, 25-21, 25-12 victory over Texas Lutheran University on Sunday afternoon.

With their fourth sweep of the weekend and the 15th of the season, the Tigers improved to 17-2 overall and 9-0 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Junior middle hitter Emma Hewlin led CC's attack with nine kills on an error-free 18 attempts. It was the seventh time this season she hit .500 or better.

Georgia Mullins also finished with nine kills while hitting .263. The sophomore middle hitter also recorded a career-high 10 digs and had a hand in four blocked shots.

Senior outside hitter Haley Harris had eight kills and a season-high 20 digs.

Harris put down five in the first set as the Tigers snapped a 7-7 tie with a 9-2 surge. TLU pulled to within 22-19, but Colorado College scored three of the final four points to close out the frame.

The Bulldogs led 17-13 midway through the second set, but the Tigers ran off six consecutive points to go ahead by two. Texas Lutheran cuts its deficit to 20-19, only to see CC score five of the final seven points.

The third set was all Colorado College as the Tigers raced to an 11-4 lead and never looked back.

CC held the Bulldogs to a .065 hitting percentage, marking the 11th time in 19 matches that an opponent hit below .100 against the Tigers.

Lizzy Counts produced her fourth double-double with 35 assists and 14 digs.

Texas Lutheran Standouts
Kacie Hall had five kills and hit .188 for the Bulldogs.
Lexi Moore led TLU with 17 digs.

Next for the Tigers
CC takes a break from conference action to host its final regular-season tournament, the 2019 Colorado College Invitational. The Tigers face Illinois College and Randolph-Macon College on Friday, then DePauw University on Saturday.
