LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -
Nine of the ten Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer teams kicked off the 2019 season this past weekend, posting an overall record of 6-7-4, highlighted by Colorado College, St. Thomas and Trinity remaining unbeaten.

Colorado College is 2-0 for the first time since 2012 after home weekend victories against Albion and Luther. In the opener against the Britons, CC got a pair of goals from sophomore Kiran Singh in the 4-1 win. On Saturday, the Tigers saw three different players score goals and senior goalkeeper Keller Mochel collect five saves to post an impressive 3-0 shutout victory.

St. Thomas (1-0-0) made its NCAA Division III and SCAC debut in impressive fashion last week, earning a thrilling 1-0 overtime victory against Sul Ross St. Junior Nick Seydler scored less than a minute into overtime off an assist from junior Oliver Palermo to send the Celts home victorious.

Trinity (1-0-1) won its sixth consecutive season opener last Friday with a 2-1 overtime victory against Texas-Dallas. The Tigers trailed at the half but a goal from junior Jacob Hallenberger in the 66th minute sent the game to extra time where junior Andrea Codispoti finished off the Comets in the 94th minute on an assist from senior Josh Davis. On Sunday, Trinity and Willamette played to a 1-1 draw that saw the Tigers once again trail at the half and force overtime with a second half goal, this time coming from junior Quentin van der Lee who converted a penalty kick in the 54th minute.

Dallas (1-1) and Texas Lutheran (1-1) each split non-conference games to open the season with both squads earning a victory in the opener. The Crusaders got a pair of goals from junior Chase Reynolds in a dominating 5-1 win over Howard Payne. Dallas has now scored five goals two of the last three times it has faced the Yellow Jackets.  The Bulldogs secured its season opening victory against Concordia last Friday, 2-1, as senior Cameron Townes provided both goals for TLU. Townes finished the weekend with three goals, notching the lone goal for Texas Lutheran in a 2-1 overtime loss to Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday.

Johnson & Wales (0-1-1), Schreiner (0-1-1) and Southwestern (0-1-1) all earned results via a tie over the weekend against Albion, LeTourneau and Mary Hardin-Baylor, respectively.
