COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) has selected a record 762 programs from 480 institutions to the Scholar All-America Team for the Fall 2019 semester, including four women's and three men's Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference teams.
Colorado College, Southwestern University and Trinity University had both their men's and women's programs receive recognition. The McMurry University women's tean also earned Scholar All-America recognition.
For Colorado College, it marks the 12th consecutive semester that both programs have received CSCAA Scholar All-America Team status. For Trinity University, it is the seventh consecutive semester both programs have been honored and it is the third straight for Southwestern University.
The teams were selected on the basis of their Fall grade point averages and represent 17,685 student-athletes. To be selected as a CSCAA Scholar All-America Team, programs must have achieved a grade point average of 3.00 or higher over the fall semester and maintain a roster of 12 or more student-athletes.
On the women's side, Colorado College, led by head coach Anne Goodman James, led the way among SCAC programs, posting a 3.57 GPA. Southwestern University, led by head coach Jon Duncan, followed with a team GPA of 3.48 and Trinity University, led by head coach Scott Trompeter, was close behind with a 3.42 team GPA. McMurry University, led by head coach Casey Pacheco, recorded a team GPA of 3.14 over the fall 2019 semester.
Only 11 Division III programs posted a higher GPA than the Colorado College men, who paced all SCAC programs with a team GPA of 3.52. Southwestern University followed with a 3.40 team GPA and Trinity University followed with a 3.12 team GPA for the fall 2019 semester.
