KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Texas Lutheran University sophomore Luis Green was elected to the United Soccer Coaches Division III All-American Team it was announced Thursday evening. Full Release
Green was elevated to second-team All-America after earning third-team honors in 2018 as a freshman and his selection marks the 97th individual All-America accolade in SCAC men’s soccer history.
In 2019, Green set new TLU DIII-era records for goals scored (20) and total points (43). TLU has been a member of the NCAA Division III since 2002.
Green's 20 goals scored and 43 total points (20 goals, 3 assists) were the second-most goals scored and points recorded in a single season in TLU Men's Soccer history. Green's production trailed only the 1994 season totals of former Bulldog Ariel Larre, who scored 22 goals and had 49 total points (22 goals, 5 assists).
The two-time SCAC Offensive Player-of-the-Year, Green registered three hat tricks this season and scored nine goals in his last six matches of the year, brining his career total to 38 goals in 39 games.
This season, Green led TLU to its first-ever Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship and to its second-ever NCAA Division III playoff berth. The Bulldogs won a school-record 15 matches, going 15-6 overall and 7-2 in the SCAC.
Green will be formally acknowledged for his accomplishment at the United Soccer Coaches All-America Ceremony & Reception on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020 at the Baltimore Convention Center in conjunction with the United Soccer Coaches Convention.
