LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- The 2020 SCAC men's lacrosse season is officially underway with three of the league’s five teams in action this past weekend.
Southwestern opened its 2020 season with a 15-8 victory over Hendrix on Saturday. Attacker Zac Asbury led the way for the Pirates, scoring nine points off four goals and five assists. The Pirates more than doubled Hendrix’s shot attempts (52-25) and ground balls (47-22). Jacob Hamilton matched Asbury for game-high honors, finishing with four goals on six shots, with Blake Sitterly adding three goals on four shots.
Centenary dropped its home opener to Huntingdon College (20-5) on Sunday. Freshman Michael Mosura and John-Mark Waniewski both made their college debut, with Mosura finishing with two goals, one assist, and three ground balls, and Waniewski adding two goals.
Dallas also dropped its home opener to Huntingdon College (20-3) on Saturday. Michael White started in goal, making 14 saves against 28 shots in the first half. Freshman Owen Gibbons notched seven saves in 20 minutes. Jake Fredrick netted a hat trick for the Crusaders, adding to the junior’s eight shots with five on frame and five ground balls.
Three SCAC men’s lacrosse teams will be in action this week, highlighted by Colorado College making its season debut Friday against Sewanee.
